I have a question for the Climb Smart event. 1) I would like to go with beginner friends of mine. They were wondering if there was gear, like shoes and harness for them. 2) Will the “Basic Skills” clinic allow them to get on rock to do some top rope climbing. Finaly, 3) Do you allow dogs? Thanks, David
Thanks for the interest in Climb Smart David… I thought we had replied to this, but putting up on the public ‘board’ makes a lot of sense. 1) Yes the brands, guides and reps that support Climb Smart 2012 will bring extra gear. We encourage everyone to bring their own harness/shoes/device, however, if they have. 2) There is ‘open climbing’ and ‘basic skills’ mini-clinics… there isn’t much climbing in the basic skills clinic, which covers the foundational base knowledge like knots, belaying technique, movement, etc… open clmbing is available for just tying in and TR’ing. 3) Dogs are allowed but not encouraged. They are not allowed off the main roads in Joshua Tree National Park, but they are allowed at the Joshua Tree Lake Campground, where the main events are. Thanks again David. FOJT
