October 16, 2020 | Kenji Friends Of Joshua Tree’s board of directors has decided to push the Climb Smart event in Joshua Tree to April 16-18, 2021. The rising new case count in San Bernardino County has been moving in the opposite direction for events to stage responsibly, although this event is 100% outdoors and all safety protocols were (and are still) being planned for. There are already nearly 100 registrants for the rescheduled event, and we are keeping the number of people at the event low to be abundantly cautious. If the region can get into better condition by Spring, we may be able to open up to more registrants. If you are interested in registering for Climb Smart 2021 (The Reschedule) click here to check it out. Thank You for #recreatingresponsibly and for your support for FOJT and Joshua Tree National Park. The Climb Smart stewardship project, in partnership with the National Park, focuses on lining specific desired paths with rocks to discourage the creation of new use-paths in the heavily impacted area.
