March 7, 2018 | Kenji UPDATE March 20– A new closure to climbing to protect nesting raptors has taken effect on Jerry’s Quarry, in the Geology Tour Road area. Nesting Owls on this crag. Avoid climbing at the Towers of Uncertainty and the Patagonia Piles areas; Nesting falcons and hawks have been observed on these cliffs. Leave ’em be, there are 4,789 other routes in the Park to climb. Not counting boulder problems. Here is the Park’s release on the closure Also in Rattlesnake Canyon there is a raptor closure for a Golden Eagle pair. Here’s the sign to look out for if you’re headed there.
